Exciting New Feature: Saving Word Magnet Activities!
A valuable new addition to a popular resource...
I hope this post finds you well!
I’m excited to share a new feature that I’ve been working on for the Word Magnet resource.
Yesterday, a teacher reached out through the website’s chat widget with a question:
❓ “Is it possible to save the position of magnets?”
Up until now, my answer has always been no.
However, this feature has been on my ‘to-do’ list for a while and so I decided it was time to tackle it!
Let me show you how the new feature works…
I started by asking the Assistant to create a vocabulary activity focusing on the characters of Lady Macbeth and King Duncan from Shakespeare’s play:
Once the activity was created and saved, I opened it with the Word Magnet resource:
As you can see, the activity isn’t quite ready to use yet—I still needed to add a background template and arrange the magnets.
Now, it looks much better:
My students can now consider each word and drag it to a position on the Venn diagram, depending on whether they think it best describes Lady Macbeth, best describes King Duncan or could be used to describe both characters. Perfect!
As an extra challenge, students could also resize the magnets to reflect how strongly each word describes the characters.
However, previously, each time the activity was reopened, the magnets would revert back to their original positions.
🎉 But not anymore!
I’ve added a ‘Save Current Positions’ button to the Word Magnet resource’s menu.
Now, whenever I (or any of my colleagues or students) open the resource in the future, the board will update and look exactly as it did when I last saved it:
You can try this new feature by viewing my King Duncan and Lady Macbeth activity here:
🔗 King Duncan and Lady Magnet - Word Magnet Venn Diagram
You will see that the activity opens immediately with the Venn Diagram in place, with the title magnets ‘taped’ in place at the top of the screen and the words ready to be positioned!
Even better, this works seamlessly when you embed the activity into a lesson or presentation.
The activity will display exactly as you saved it—no need for adjustments!
Try it out with this simple lesson:

💬 I’d love to hear what you think!
Is this something that would be helpful for you and your students?
Please feel free to reply or comment with any questions or feedback about this new feature.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Triptico.
It is very much appreciated.
Best regards,
David
